At the moment when the government is claiming to come up with ‘revolutionary’ steps to eliminate corruption, it is disturbing to note that 60 deputy supe
rintendents of police (DSPs) posted in different districts of Punjab including Faisalabad have not declared their assets for the last five years.
However, taking note of the situation, the police department’s high-ups have warned the DSPs of consequences in the promotion committee meeting. The IG Punjab has directed that all the 60 DSPs would be required t
o provide details of their pr
operties immediately.
Like the officers of other departments in Punjab, the Deputy Supe
rintendents of Police (DSPs) across the province are also directed to submit details of their assets every year but to no avail. Therefore, the Inspector General of Punjab Police has issued a letter to the police chiefs of all the districts stating that there are many DSPs across Punjab who has not submitted their annual returns. They have to submit the details of their pr
operties to the headquarters.
An official letter issued by the IG Punjab cl
arified that 60 DSPs from across Punjab, including Faisalabad, have come forward who have shown some interest in submitting details of pr
operties for the last five years, from 2016 to 2020. Promotions given to police officers by top police officials are subject to annual asset details. It has been cl
arified that the cases of officers who have not submitted their annual tax returns will not be discussed in the meeting of the departmental promotion committee. Promotions will be stopped if the asset statement is not submitted, so if the police office
rs want a promotion, they should immediately submit the details of their annual assets so that their cases can be included in the DPC.
In a letter issued by the Inspector General of Punjab Police, it was cl
arified that 60 DSPs of Punjab Police have not submitted their returns, while in the DPC department, they have been asked to promote these DSPs. But if the annual returns of their pr
operties are not received, the cases of promotion of their promotions will be ignored. To avoid any hassle, all DSPs should immediately send full details of their pr
operties to the IG’s office, otherwise departmental. Action can also be taken.
